I'm a little late writing this as I have had a fair amount of paper work to complete (I have recently began teaching in two FE colleges on dance and musical theatre courses).
However, this post will be linked to our initial skype discussion on the 23rd and also this evenings discussion.
Looking at information, learning and knowledge, it seems these themes can be both interchangeable and equally happen in an order. If we look at these as a process, it could be seen as learning is the initial action, which turns into knowledge, that could then be explored further and then delivered as information.
Conversely, the idea that these could all happen at various times of training or teaching is possibly a better way of looking at these. If we take the idea of learning, we as dancers learn through our trainers knowledge. Once we acquire this knowledge and become the teacher ourselves, could we then learn through experience how our students respond to our teaching to better our practice?
It is cliche to say we never stop learning, however, through our practice we learn to dance, but we also learn to teach. To become a good teacher we must learn from our students how better to deliver our knowledge and information, for our students to gain the best results.
This is just a short thought I have had over these two discussions that I may explore further.
Hi Sarah, how you doing great:) i just want to say hello and looking forward to get to know you and make a quick reflection on your so cool blog.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you regarding the triangle learning, knowledge and information. All three together creating sense of wholeness. Learning is kind of state of non stop happening, and continuously creating knowledge based on amount of information given to learners. Learning is mutual and we learn how become better teachers through them and how in the simplest way pass them our knowledge through more resources. . Hopefully see you virtually soon:)
